Hi again
Anybody give me some tips on the EECIV module.
I have the complete engine sub loom still connected to the 60 way plug, so that should be ok.
What other inputs/outputs do I require from the unit.
I have cut the "car-side" loom about two feet back to allow for jointing etc.
Any advice would be welcome.
Cheers

Bit of a difficult one this as there are quite a few wires that you dont need anymore for various sensors etc.The best way is to work through the Granny diagrams and work out which ones you need and the ones you dont. Its a very long and boring job.Have fun:-) :-) :-) :-)

I tried to leave the EECIV loom as intact as possible when I ported it across, and have since spliced everything and loomed the whole lot up so I won't be able to give any accurate information. What I can remember is that there was the following:
- a 12v feed from the Ignition 1 position
- Quite a few earth feeds!!
- the speed feed from the gearbox (electronic pulse that also feeds the speedo)
- tacho feed, but that will be from the engine sub loom
- same for engine temp
If I remember any others I will add them on later.

Hi,
Are you using the V6 engine in your car?

Andy,
yes, I am using the V6, the 2.9i Scorpio version. I figure that it is not that much less power than the RV8. Ok, it is a bit heavier as well, but it still gets 30+ mpg and has the added bonus of the reliability of fuel injection. You average Joe Bloggs is not going to be able to tell the difference as I cruise past.

I used a complete 2.9i Granny for my Sumo but fully removed the loom without any "cutting".
The Ford ECU loom connected to the main loom via a 9 pin connector (a 3 wire by 3 wire square connector - red from memory)
I know what these wires need connecting to but if your Granny was an auto, you also need the auto-box loom so you can wire out the starter inhibitor but keep the throttle position sensor.
If you're still struggling, let me know and I'll explain what the 9 pin connector should be wired to.
Best of luck

Thanks all you guys who replied.
I'm just starting out. Kit gets delivered two weeks today. So just sounding out what I reckon are going to be the sticky points.
I'm sure I'll need to rely on you again soon!!!
Cheers

Hi David , I hope you have a long memory , I have the same query, and loom. Can you please explain what the 9 pin connector needs connecting to and how to wire out the starter inhibitor ?? Thanks Alec

Hi Alec
Is this the 9 pin connector which has the following wires:
Green
Brown white
Black Green
Black Red
Yellow Brown
Brown Green
Black
Brown White (x2)
If so, I'll try to find if I made any notes on how I did it!

Hi Alec
I've had a look, and unfortunately my notes aren't as comprehensive as I thought. I've tried to check it on the loom but can't get to it without stripping the dash and getting the binding off......also tried validating it against a Haynes manual - but there seems to be too many mistakes and sections missing on my copy!.
So, not 100% sure but, from memory (please don't take this as gospel as it was 6 years ago.... it may give you some pointers):
Green - rev counter
Brown white – temp sender
Black Green – black blue feed from ignition switch start
Black Red – fuel pump (via inertia switch)
Yellow Brown – speedo from auto loom ( not required as wired from daisy wheel)
Brown Green – dash computer (not used?)
Brown Green – oil pressure switch
Black – black green feed from ignition switch
Brown White (x2) earth ?
Sorry I can't be more definite.
Mike
Many Thanks Mike ,It gives me a great start ,combined with all the other stuff I've found I might have some success. If it's confirmed (or not) I'll let you know what works !!!:D

Hi Gareth,
Nice to see you back on the forum. Is this what you are planning putting in your sumo now:twisted:, or have you finally got that other engine sorted?:grin:
Cheers.
